Full cookie policy
What are cookies? Cookies are small text files that the website the User visits sends to its terminal (usually to the browser). Employed in order to improve the services provided by a website, cookies are used, for example, to perform computer authentication procedures (remembering login data in such a way that they do not have to be re-entered at each login), to monitor sessions, and to memorize specific information regarding the users who access the server, great quantities of which are usually contained in each User’s browser. Certain operations could not be performed without the use of cookies, which are thus technically essential in certain cases.
Cookies are classified on the basis of their duration and of the website that has set them:
Session cookies: these are eliminated when the browser is closed.
Persistent cookies: these are eliminated after a certain set time.
First-party cookies: these are set by the websites themselves (with the same domain as the one indicated in the browser address bar) and may only be read by said websites. They are commonly used to store information such as preferences shown, to be used for subsequent visits to the website.
Third-party cookies: during the course of browsing through a website, the User may receive on his/her terminal cookies from other websites or web servers; this happens because the website being visited may feature elements such as images, maps, sounds, specific links to web pages of other domains, that are located on servers other than the one where the requested page is to be found.
There are two main categories of cookies: “technical” cookies and “profiling” cookies.
Technical cookies may be subdivided into browsing or session cookies, which guarantee the regular browsing and utilization of a website (permitting the user, for example, to make purchases or to login to reserved areas); analytic cookies, which are classified as technical cookies when used directly by the website manager to gather information, in aggregate form, regarding the number of users, or the way in which users visit the site itself; operational cookies permitting a user to browse on the basis of a series of selected criteria (for example, language, the products selected for purchase), in order to improve the service provided to the user. Installation of such cookies does not require the prior agreement of users, although it does require the user to be informed of such (pursuant to Article 122 of the Privacy Code and the general provisions of the Authority for the Protection of Personal Data of 8 May 2014).
Profiling cookies are designed to create a user’s profile, and are used to send advertising messages in keeping with the preferences shown by said user when browsing the web. In view of the particularly invasive nature of such appliances in the private sphere of users, European and Italian law establishes that users must be adequately informed about the use of such cookies, and must be asked to give their consent to the use of such.
Technical cookies and profiling cookies shall be distinguished between those installed by the Owner of the website, and those installed by third-party services that the site uses (third-party cookies).
Our use of cookies:
